Next in line of Nessy Learning products that strengthen a student’s beginner reading skills are the apps Hairy Words 1 and 2. These apps are designed to help beginning readers recognize and master “sight words”, or words that appear frequently in early reading passages but often are misspelled or mispronounced and are hard for students to sound out. Students are again accompanied by the fuzzy monsters called Hairies as they work through different levels and learn how to spell the tricky sight words.

Hairy Words 1 is designed for children 5-7 years old and teaches proper spelling of simple sight words like “what” and “one”. The application helps children learn the 100 most common sight words over 12 levels. Hairy Words 2 then introduces the next 100 most common sight words, helping kids from 6-8 years old master tricky words like “were” and “great”. Together, these applications work to improve a student’s reading ability by catching and correcting easy spelling mistakes with the help of the Hairies.

Both Hairy Words 1 and 2 are available for Apple and Android products. Visit the Apple store or the Google Play store to learn more about the applications.
