For children showing early signs of dyslexia or other reading challenges, The Luma Center has introduced a new program, Nemours BrightStart!, a pre-reading program for young children.
The program consists of twenty weeks of twice-a-week small-group sessions taught by an experienced early childhood education teacher. The lesson materials engage multisensory learning through learning to recognize letter forms, listening to read-alouds, and engaging in creative movement activities. This program aims to teach children the concepts of oral language, print awareness, letter knowledge, phonological awareness, and emergent writing.
This program is intended for children between the ages of 3 and 6 who show signs of reading deficiencies. It aims to dramatically increase their reading readiness for when they enter elementary school.
