Research has shown that it is difficult to see the warning signs of dyslexia until a child begins reading; however, a new study in Australia is studying five-month old babies in a project called the Seeds of Literacy.

In this five-year study, the researchers are performing a series of acoustic tests on the infants to see how they respond. They are hoping to find early markers and signals of dyslexia. The researchers are hoping their study will lead to a screening program that will allow parents to detect the signals of dyslexia when their children are babies so they can begin intervention much earlier.
