A new psychological test is helping researchers understand how the human brain decodes letters to read words.
Specifically, the test could help understand how the brain makes sense of some jumbled letters and not others. This could not only explain the differences in people’s reading abilities, but could also shed light on some of the challenges faced by those with reading difficulties.

The research seeks to accomplish these goals by understanding the code that the brain uses while reading.
While the research is certainly exciting, it is important to note that it only seeks to understand how a developed brain system works. More research will have to be conducted in order to understand how this knowledge could be implemented into teaching children how to read.
