Maya Hawke

Actress and musician, Maya Hawke, who was kicked out of school due to her dyslexia, did not let it hinder her success.

Growing up, Maya Hawke struggled immensely with her dyslexia. She stated she got bullied for being in a lower reading group than her peers in the same grade. Hawke was even kicked out of school due to her inability to read. She then had to join a special school for students with learning disorders. With the support of her parents encouraging her to be creative, Hawke was able to overcome a lot of her challenges. Despite struggling greatly, Hawke didn’t let her dyslexia keep her from success. She described that her limitations pushed her to be even more determined to love and appreciate stories and other creative avenues such as producing. She is well-known for her role in Stranger Things, Little Women, and other shows and films.
