Academy award-winning producer/director, Peggy Stern, says her dyslexia led her to filmmaking and animation.
From a young age, Stern had trouble reading. She recalls struggling to retain any information about letters or sequences when she first began to read. She says she wouldn’t tell her friends she had a tutor because she felt ashamed. However, when she finally became a reader around 8th grade, she began to love reading due to immense support from her tutor. She now uses her experiences to advocate for children to have access to encouraging, social-emotional learning. Some of Stern’s most well-known works include The Moon and the Son, Silver Valley, and Quality of Life.
