IndyCar driver Justin Wilson was no stranger to hard work and perseverance.

The 34-year-old racecar driver was diagnosed with dyslexia when he was 13 but before that, he struggled with spelling and reading.

Other children in his classes would tell Wilson he was stupid, but he understood that he just learned differently from other people, and developed strategies to work around his difficulties in the classroom.

Wilson said that having dyslexia was a benefit in his life, because it pushed him to work harder in everything he does. He also said that having to work as hard as he did gave him a great sense of determination and work ethic.

Wilson also worked to raise awareness of dyslexia for the benefit of others during the Indianapolis 500.
