British actor and Golden Globes winner Anthony Andrews was introduced to the stage by his English teacher. As a student, Andrews had been fiercely struggling in school with reading and writing because of his dyslexia, and he lacked confidence with reading out loud in class. Hoping to remedy his insecurities in the classroom, his English teacher cast him in a school play, and Andrews soon fell in love with the world of acting; it was a place where he could express himself. Even though Andrews’s dyslexia made reading scripts a challenge for him throughout his professional career, he never let it get in the way of his passion for acting. Every time he picked up a new script, his old school-age habits of skipping to the middle of page in hopes of getting to the end quicker took over, and Andrews would have to stop himself and carefully start over.
