Laura Grey is a graduate student at the University of Michigan’s School of Information, and she has found her niche in learning new languages. Proficient in 5 different languages and currently learning 3 more, it is no surprise that Grey likes to spend her free time learning about new cultures and their languages. She uses the down time the rest of the world spends playing games or scrolling through social media to learn new vocabulary of different languages. Now 45 years old, Grey wasn’t diagnosed with dyslexia until she was 39. In an interview, she says that knowing about her disability when she was younger would have helped her understand her challenges and get through school with the help she needed. However, she has a positive outlook and uses language learning as a hobby and a way to keep her mind sharp. Despite the challenges she has faced with dyslexia, she finds joy and fulfillment from learning a new part of a language each and every day.
