Nine-year-old Lillian Harris used to approach speaking aloud in school with alarm and dread, but upon learning she has dyslexia, her confidence in school has grown dramatically.
Lillian recently wrote a story for the Madison County Young Authors Conference called "Dogs for Dyslexia". The story features a young girl with dyslexia who successfully navigates a school day with the help of her dog, Daisy.
Her parents, extremely proud of her achievement in writing the story, helped Lillian illustrate the story and self-published the book.
Now, Lillian’s book is being used to help teach others about dyslexia. Lillian even took the opportunity to face her old fears and read her story aloud to her classmates.
