LinkedIn works to destigmatize dyslexia in the workplace

A new partnership with Made By Dyslexia reframes the condition as a strength.

Career-oriented social media site LinkedIn recently modified its Skills feature to include “dyslexic thinking” among a list of strengths that users can append to their profiles. The term joins others like “public speaking” and “customer service” that can make a positive impact in a workplace environment but may not be captured on a more traditional resume. The addition is one part of an advocacy campaign by Made By Dyslexia, a global charity founded and operated by individuals with dyslexia. LinkedIn says that the move is just one step towards what it calls a “skills-first blueprint” that the company plans to adopt for its hiring practices.
