Tracing their years-long journey, the film highlights the immense effort required to secure effective education for their children. After considerable research, political activism, and community organizing, the school was backed by Mayor Eric Adams, who also has dyslexia. The school uses evidence-based techniques like the Orton-Gillingham approach to educate a population that has struggled to thrive with more traditional instruction.
