Comedian Phil Hanley says he uses his dyslexia to enhance his creativity.
Hanley is a standup comedian, writer, and actor. He was diagnosed with dyslexia at the age of 10. He also has a diagnosis of ADHD. Prior to receiving a diagnosis, he used comedy as a coping mechanism for the struggles that came with having a learning disorder. Hanley has learned to utilize his Dyslexia and ADHD to his creative advantage.
He is now a key spokesperson on Dyslexia and works with different organizations such as Eye To Eye, Dyslexia Canada, and Choose your Own ADDventure. As an ambassador for these organizations, he has shared his experiences with having learning disorders.
Hanley is from Oshawa, Ontario and now resides within NYC and is a staple within the NYC comedy scene. He has appeared on different talk shows such as The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. In addition, Hanley has appeared in different films and he is currently writing a memoir. Overall, he has shown that receiving a dyslexia diagnosis does not inhibit success.
