Comedian Phil Hanley says he uses his dyslexia to enhance his creativity.

Hanley is a standup comedian, writer, and actor who is diagnosed with dyslexia and ADHD. Prior to receiving a diagnosis at age ten, he used comedy as a coping mechanism for the struggles that came with having a learning disorder. Hanley has learned to utilize his dyslexia and ADHD to his creative advantage.

Hanley works with organizations like Eye To Eye, Dyslexia Canada, and Choose your Own ADDventure to advocate for individuals with learning disorders. As an ambassador for these organizations, he shares his experiences to motivate and inspire others.

Originally from Oshawa, Ontario, Hanley now lives in New York City and is a staple of the NYC comedy scene. He has appeared on several talk shows and podcasts, and clips of his comedy are increasingly popular on Youtube. His new memoir Spellbound chronicles his experiences as a child living with undiagnosed dyslexia and an adult making a living through writing and performing. His continued success exemplifies the power of perseverance and shows that a learning disorder doesn’t limit one's potential.
