Usually, it's not polite to laugh at someone with a learning disability. But in the case of Nina G., she wants you to laugh.

Karen Wasco, former Senior Speech-Language Pathologist with DyslexiaHelp, was able to talk with Nina about her struggles through grade school and how she was able to become a successful stand-up comedian and an advocate for people with disabilities, despite her dyslexia and stutter.

You can read or listen to the interview (listed below), where Nina discusses how helpful her parents were in advocating for her throughout school. She stresses the importance of being an advocate, saying "it’s almost as important as academics."

Nina and her group, Comedians with Disabilities, were also featured on Good Day San Francisco.
