One of the goals of DyslexiaHelp is to share stories of dyslexics who can offer hope to others. Malcolm Alexander (1925-2014) epitomized such a person.
Dr. Holly Craig, professor emerita at UM, had the pleasure of meeting Malcolm in his home town of Tucson, Arizona.
You can listen to or read Malcolm and Holly's conversation (listed below) as he talked about his life from the painful years in school due to his dyslexia to discovering his gift in sculpture. His work is highly-acclaimed with commissions that include two 18-foot monuments for the State of Alaska and another of the actor Jimmy Stewart for his hometown of Indiana, Pennsylvania.
Malcolm offers sage advice for dyslexics—he encourages you to find your gift and persevere. "And don't expect it to come easy; nothing comes easy. But you’ve got a gift. Don't waste it."
