Whitt describes his dyslexia as both a curse and a gift. He remembers being terrified in school to be called on in class to read aloud. This fear even led him to tell his teachers and college professors that he could not be called on to read. Although he struggled with reading, he developed other skills to help him be successful. For instance, Whitt explains that he believes his dyslexia helped to enhance his memorization skills.
Whitt is now a father who looks to be a model for his kids as well as other people who may struggle with dyslexia. He describes that although reading is difficult for him and takes him a long time, he works through it to show his kids the importance of perseverance.
He has coached for several NFL teams — most recently the Washington Commanders — and says his dyslexia does not impact his success in his career.
