He struggled with reading in school, and well into his adulthood, and was unable to understand why. Finally, when his youngest son was tested for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), Ryan himself got tested and realized that he has dyslexia.

Unwilling to let this slow him down, Ryan developed new coaching techniques, like a system of color coding for his playbooks and game plans in order to make them easier to comprehend. Ryan has been extremely open about his dyslexia, wanting people to know that it is a part of him and something that has helped make him stronger.

“I want people to know that you can have dyslexia and still reach your goals.”
