Here are my top five ways of preparing for college in the 11th grade.
Number 5: Talk to your friends. Where are they going to school and why? Also talk to older friends who are now enrolled in different colleges. How do they like their college? What don't they like about it?
Number 4: Research possible scholarships. DyslexiaHelp has excellent information on possible scholarships and funding.
Number 3: Collect more college information. Go to college fairs, talk to college representatives, and spend a lot of time on the Internet researching possible colleges.
Number 2: Visit possible colleges. Make an appointment with the Director of their learning disabilities program. Also, have questions ready for admissions officers, professors, and students.
The number one way to prepare for college: Take the ACT/SAT exams early. You may want to retake them. If you have a choice, take the ACT. It is usually easier for dyslexic students.
Be well and make a bit of noise,
