DyslexiaHelp was designed more than a decade ago as an evidence-based dyslexia curriculum for those with dyslexia, parents, professionals, and educators. Our new home at the U-M School of Education supports that mission and provides many new opportunities for the future.

Effective July 1, 2021, DyslexiaHelp moved to the University School of Education (SOE), which is under the leadership of Dean Elizabeth Birr Moje. Last spring, Dean Moje and I were talking about a number of things, including her in interest in social-cultural practices in education, literacy learning, and her work in Detroit. As our discussion continued, it became clear to us that there was a place for DyslexiaHelp within the virtual halls of the SOE.

It is as if DyslexiaHelp has come full circle to have landed in the SOE. This news is particularly thrilling for me since the UM SOE is my alma mater (PhD ‘99; MS ‘85). When DyslexiaHelp launched in 2010, it was under the leadership of my mentor, Professor Emerita of Education Dr. Holly K. Craig. As faculty members in the SOE, Dr. Moje and Dr. Craig knew each other well. It was a privilege to work under Dr. Craig’s guidance, and it is heartening and exciting to be able to work under the leadership of Dr. Moje.

This year the SOE turned 100 years old! Read about some of its history here. All of us at DyslexiaHelp look forward to being a part of the next 100 years of this great School of Education!
