A recent brain-imaging study has confirmed the theory that dyslexia and IQ are independent. Thus, reading difficulties can exist regardless of overall intelligence. The conductors of this study from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) are hoping that these results will allow a broader range of dyslexic students with all different IQ levels to receive special assistance in reading from schools.
