Tech: Hairy Letters

Hairy Letters is an application by Nessy Learning Limited that is designed to help students 4-6 years old with recognizing the phonic value of letters along with the letters’ names. Students trace the letters with their finger right on the screen with the help of colorful monsters, interacting with these animations to make the learning experience a fun one. The app also has games to help reinforce the learned material. There are even games designed to work towards blending the individual letter sounds into simple words.

Created with the goal of teaching and strengthening a young student’s knowledge of the alphabet, Hairy Letters is great for those who might need extra practice with the sounds associated with each letter. Students with dyslexia or other language-learning disabilities can benefit from this app’s fun approach to teaching sounds.
